Mexican Independence Day. September 15 and 16. This is Independence celebration, fiesta fills the streets and tequila is flowing, but there's also a sense of pride and patriotism.

Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe. December 12. This is a date to honor the most important patron of Mexico after Christ. The Virgin of Guadalupe is considered to be not only a mother to the Mexicans, but also to many Latin Americans.

Posadas. First two weeks of December. If you know pinatas, this is the real meaning of them. Mexicans celebrate the previous 9 days before Christmas with these neighborhood parties where people get together, and "break the pinata". The meaning is religious.
